Campaign: To support young people with diabetes

I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was six years old.  


It’s a condition which affects one in twenty-five people in Scotland, many of them young people like me.


When I went to secondary school, I was responsible for controlling the diabetes myself.


I wanted to go out and do the normal things that teenagers do, but I had to take injections and keep an eye on my insulin levels.


Wanting to support others who live the disease, my group and I have launched a website that allows those with diabetes to come together and talk about things that affect them.


We want young people to realise that you can lead a normal life having diabetes, as long as you manage it effectively.

Iain has Type 2 diabetes and supported our project by sharing his story for the broadcast piece.
