Campaign: To show how performing arts can boost self-esteem

I’ve had a few low points in my life and struggled with confidence issues.

One thing that really helped me was getting involved in performing arts.

Since studying it at college, I’ve boosted my self-esteem and have met some tremendous friends along the way.

My team and I are working with Fixers to show others how performing arts can teach transferable skills and change your life for the better.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

Amy Taggart

Christopher Moore

David Mullan

Gavin Fields

Hugh Lee

Jody McCormick

Megan Flack

Ruariri Marshall

Seánna Nugent

Theresa Moran

South West College

We all attend the college and became passionate about the project after studying performing arts together.

June 2014

For the campaign we created a booklet to highlight the benefits of performing arts and the resource was well received! You can read some of this positive feedback below:

Tommy: 'The Fame Not Lame booklet is excellent. The colour scheme and graphics are appealing and the information is presented in a very clear and easy to follow way. I could see this booklet being used in my school.'

Peter: 'Fame Not Lame is well written, well presented and easy to follow. It allows for youth leaders such as myself who aren't overly familiar with performing arts to engage young people. I look forward to using it.'

Shannon: 'This is a great resource. The group of Fixers were able to demonstrate it really well at the launch and I can see youth workers, drama teachers and tutors being able to make good use of it.'
