Campaign: Fixers Road Savvy Campaign

In February last year I was out on my motorbike when I was involved in a major collision.

It was a serious accident, and I lost both my legs and I had to be revived four times. I spent three months in hospital and one month in rehab. I now use a wheelchair to get around.

I am passionate about road safety, because the collision I was involved in has changed my life forever and I want to raise awareness about the dangers to avoid unnecessary injuries or deaths.

September 2013

I attended the Fixers Road Savvy Forum in London.

It brought together Fixers, politicians, road safety experts and representatives from the emergency services.

Transport Minister Stephen Hammond and former footballer and TV presenter Gary Lineker were among those there.

The day was split into two sessions. In the morning I took part in a workshop, discussing the key road safety issues facing young people today.

In the afternoon, a forum was held where politicians and road safety professionals were given the chance to put questions to a panel of Fixers.

Conclusions from the event are going to be presented to the Department for Transport in a ‘Fixers Green Paper’ as a contribution to the Government’s forthcoming Road Safety Green Paper.

Following my attendance at the Road Savvy Forum, I was featured on ITV News Granada, discussing my views on safety for young people. Click here to see the full broadcast.
