Name: Kay Browning
Age: 25
Year of the Fix: 2015
Location: Tiverton, Devon
Campaign: To end negativity towards people who are transgender

As a transgender man, I have experienced prejudice in the past.

I was once stripped from the waist down and spat on in a public park, which was extremely humiliating.

Many people don’t realise that this isn’t a choice. Transition is a difficult thing.

I’ve been a dancer with Tiverton Town Majorettes since I was five.

I’m now their head coach and choreographer and I’m working with Fixers to put on an event to try to change people's negative attitudes towards those who are transgender through education and entertainment.

Hopefully, we can challenge misunderstandings and inspire more people, who may be questioning their gender identity, to feel confident in themselves.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:

Abbie Unwin

Cheryl Butler

Georgia Phelan

Jodie Field

Kelly-Jade Browning

Megan Radley

Sonia McManus

Tiverton Town Majorettes

I am the head coach and choreographer at Tiverton Town Majorettes. Allana Smith and Megan Brown, who are both from the dance group, feature in my broadcast piece. They’re also supporting my project by helping with preparations for the event I am organising.

Intercom Trust

Andy Hunt from the Intercom Trust is supporting my project. He agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast piece.

Mid Devon Gazette

The team at the newspaper support my campaign. They provided space for us to film parts of my broadcast piece.

Sinead and Billy are young transgender people who feature in the broadcast. They are supporting the project and provided interviews for the film.

Sinead's mother Sharon also features in the broadcast. She was interviewed for the piece.
