Campaign: To show others the warning signs of domestic abuse

I know what it’s like to feel trapped in an abusive relationship.

At the age of 12, I had a boyfriend who physically and sexually assaulted me.

At the time, I stayed with him because I felt scared and ashamed. I refused to tell anyone because I thought people would judge me.

Eventually, I received help and am now working with Fixers to support others who find themselves in a similar situation.

I want to make young people more aware of domestic abuse so they don’t become trapped in an unhealthy relationship.

(Rachel is not my real name because I would like to remain anonymous.)

My Fixers project has been supported by the Cabinet Office’s Youth Social Action Fund.

As part of the Cabinet Office initiative ‘Step Up to Serve’, which is spearheaded by HRH The Prince of Wales, Fixers is working in partnership with the Youth Social Action Fund (YSAF) to offer the Fixer experience specifically to young people in Birmingham and Kent.

Oasis Domestic Abuse Service
