Campaign: To promote diversity within the TV industry

Research published by the organisation Creative Skillset shows that people from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) background represented 7.5% of the total workforce in television in 2012.

It was 9% in 2009, so the numbers are dropping. I think this shows a real lack of diversity on TV.

I want to raise awareness of this and encourage discussion about what a diverse TV industry should look like.

People from all minority groups should be represented both on and off screen.

With Fixers, I’m asking media professionals to share their thoughts on the industry and whether they feel it could be more diverse.

Together, I hope we can start a conversation on the topic and hopefully set out to make a change.

Chelsey Jay, Emma Courtier and Mandy Morgan are helping me with this Fix.
