Campaign: To end homophobic discrimination

I feel that some people think that being lesbian, gay, bi-sexual or transgender (LGBT) is somehow a choice, but it’s not.

I came out as gay two years ago and it was one of the scariest things I've had to do in my life, because I didn’t know how people would react.

That's why it's so frustrating to hear some people say that young people who are LGBT are just in a phase they will grow out of or that they’re being silly.

Sexual orientation is a part of a person’s identity and not something that can be changed.

With Fixers, I’ve helped create a film, which looks at the issue in more detail.

I hope it will encourage people to see others as individuals and prevent snap judgements from being made based on a person's sexuality.

A special thank you to fellow Fixer Terence Atkinson for helping me with this Fix.

January 2015
I’ve won a prestigious Diana Courageous Citizen Award for the work I’m doing to tackle homophobia and challenge misconceptions of LGBT young people. The award recognises young people whose courageous approach to life has made a positive impact on the lives of others.

News of my Diana Award win appeared in the Liverpool Echo. Click here to read the article. The Bootle Champion also featured a report, explaining that my Fixers film has gone viral.

October 2014

I was delighted to see that my Fixers film, which aims to tackle homophobia, has gone viral on the internet. It was featured on the social media site Upworthy and has received more than 11,000 views!
