Young People Tackle Anxiety Disorders

Young people who have struggled with anxiety put their heads together to share their experiences and come up with a set of proposals to change the way decision-makers and the public think.

With the help of Fixers, the campaign that gives young people a voice, they gathered in London in November 2017 for workshops and a special ‘Question Time’ style debate, during a day-long event, when the young people talked about how their anxiety began, the ways adults and their peers reacted, the treatment available from professionals, and the effect on their mental and physical wellbeing.

Then they came up with a set of proposals – now collated into a highly personal report – which define what they believe is needed to help society respond in the best possible way.

During the afternoon, six young people formed a panel and answered questions before an invited audience at ITV's London Television Centre, in a discussion hosted by Fixer Jessica Jayne and TV personality and model Nicola McLean who have both struggled with anxiety.
